How to Program Magnavox Universal Remote Control

When it comes to the Magnavox remotes, you can program the remote to your device in three ways.

Setup with Codes

For this method you will need the codes listed above. If you don’t find a code for your device, you can follow next two methods.

  1. Make sure you have your TV plugged in and powered on.
  2. Look for the 4-digit code for your device from the code list.
  3. Once you have the code, press and hold the Code Search Button until the LED light turn on.
  4. Press the device button for example, TV button on the remote.
  5. Now, enter the four-digit code on your remote. The LED will turn off if the code is correct and your Remote is now programmed with the device.
  6. If the code is not correct, the LED indicator on your remote will blink 5 times.

There are multiple codes for some devices and brands, and so if the first code doesn’t work repeat the steps for next code.

Setup with Auto Code Search

  1. Turn on your TV or device you want to pair with. Press the Code Search button on your Magnavox Remote.
  2. Keep the Code Search button pressed until the LED indicator is lit up.
  3. Now, press the TV button once on the remote. Here I am taking TV as an example, but you can pair with other device by pressing that button (DVD, VCR, etc.).
  4. While pointing the remote to your TV, press and hold the Power button until the LED light starts blinking.
  5. The minute your TV responds and powers itself off, press the Enter button. Make sure that you press the enter button within the first four seconds.
  6. With the code setting saved to the remote, perform basic functions such as input, audio up and down, channel up and down as well as the power button for testing.

Setup with Manual Code Search

  1. Power on your device, then press and hold the Code Search Button.
  2. Keep the Code Search button pressed until the LED indicator on the remote lights up.
  3. Now, press the TV button on the remote. If you are programming for other device, then press the button for that device.
  4. Point the remote at the TV and press the Power button repeatedly.
  5. When your TV switch off, press the Enter button within 4 seconds. This saves the settings to the remote.
  6. Now, power up the TV using the remote and see if the basic functions work. If they do, your remote has been successfully paired to your TV.
